SWAYGO GEAR TESTIMONIALS
Bonny
Armstrong -- "At
the recommendation of my husband I recently purchased a Swaygo
Push pack and wanted to tell you how much I like it. Last month
we took our Swaygos to Australia. After seeing our sleek black
packs most every Australian caver we met would ask us (with
raised eyebrows) “What kind of pack is that?” Usually
accompanied by “it seems kind of small.” I think I
satisfied the size issue when I emptied out the contents of my
pack: lunch, snacks, water bottle, pee bottle, extra lights,
batteries, first aid supplies, polypro top and bottoms, aqua
socks, harness, and a complete frog system. One cave in
particular required so much crawling through breakdown that
cavers on our trip familiar with the cave either didn’t even
bring a pack or shared a pack with someone else. More than once,
after passing my Swaygo ahead, the person in front of me would
just keep crawling with it, remarking “wow, this does drag
nice!” Before departing ways with our new found friends
they all had one more question: “so what kind of pack did you
say that was?” P.S. Swaygos are perfect as cross-country
ski packs!"

Shannon Sack, St. John, Missouri -- "I LOVE the SWAYGO
pack and will recommend to all the cavers I come across that it
is the way to go! I recently spent about 8 hours in Berome
cave in southern MO -- we crawled and squeezed and walked and
slid and the SWAYGO was the best! So easy to maneuver, so
durable and so low-profile! GREAT product!"
Andy Armstrong, Gold Canyon, Arizona -- "I have been very
satisfied with the pack so far. I especially like it for
muddy conditions as it keeps everything inside dry and cleans up
so easily. I have also used it as a day pack for two
Lechuguilla expeditions now, one to the West and one to the Far
East. I really think it is the best Lech day pack I have
used. It doesn't snag as much as other packs (the stuff we
survey tends to be small and snaggy). Also, there is
always an issue in Lech of tracking corrosion residue into clean
areas. The SWAYGO pack is easily brushed off. And,
since you are on and off rope so much in the cave, the
strap/tether configuration works nicely. Thought you would
enjoy hearing that the SWAYGO works well in the big L."
John Fox, Virginia -- "I used the pack in a cave this
past weekend and totally enjoyed it. I was surprised how
easy it was to change positions and since it was a wet cave, how
dry my clothing remained inside the pack. Great product."
Scott Lepley, Columbia, MO --
"Neck deep
in water, plastered in mud, tight cavern crawls, the SWAYGO pack
passed all possible tests. Never once did a drop of water or
mud enter the pack. I could make my way through any cavern with
no problems. I kept valuable scientific equipment within it the
entire time I went caving and all the contents were in perfect
condition at the end of the day. I took the pack halfway around
the world for caving and its works better than advertised. I
have never been happier with caving equipment purchases than
with my SWAYGO Push Pack. I most definitely recommend SWAYGO to
anyone who caves on any level."
Mike Gordon, Florida -- "By far it has been the best
single piece of equipment I own. What I mean by this is of all
the advertising on all the equipment needed to enjoy my hobby of
caving, your product exceeds the claims you make of it. That's
almost unheard of nowadays. Simple, effective, efficient: Swaygo
has all three. I know it's hard for people to get excited by a
cave pack, but I believe they would once they see it in
operation."
Alicia Henry, North Carolina -- "I used the Swaygo pack for the first
time on this trip. It's awesome! It didn't catch on stuff in the
crawlways, it was incredibly comfortable to wear, and my stuff
was DRY at the end of the trip!!"
Cheryl Jones, McLean, VA -- "I
love my SWAYGO! And I was a skeptic when I bought my SWAYGO last
year, but decided to give it a try. I generally avoid wearing
backpacks for normal east cost caving and gear because of the
thickness it adds to my chest for negotiating squeezes and stoop
walks. Being over 6 feet tall, I already have to stoop more than
most other cavers in low passages. Additionally, a regular back
pack kills my back when stoop walking for long periods, because
the weight is carried on the upper half of the back. A normal
pack is cumbersome to slip off my shoulders to shift its
position or to carry in my hand if the passage requires it, and
catches easily when dragged through crawlways or up narrow or
jagged pitches. The SWAYGO -- I have the "Push" size -- rides
low and easy, so that the thick part is in the small of my back,
and thus most of the weight/center of gravity is carried closer
to my waist. The wedge shape means that rather than approaching
a ceiling with a thick block sitting between my shoulder blades,
I have a smooth low angle which generally just slides on by roof
protrusions, if hitting them at all, and allows me to stand up
higher in a low passage, or wear the pack in a crawlway. The
smooth, firm surface slides past mud, jagged edges and rough
rock better than any pack I've ever used (including coated
fabric rope bags). The only thing close were the sections of
tire inner tubes I used years ago for hauling gear. I was
surprised at how much passage I've covered with the SWAYGO in
place on my back -- much more than I ever would have comfortably
with a normal back pack. The long shoulder straps make the pack
quick and easy to slide off one shoulder, or to shift the pack
far to one side. I can even just sling it over one shoulder,
diagonally across my body. The biner at the top center of the
shoulder straps makes it a snap to clip below me rappelling or
climbing, and to hook onto the bottom of the opening in my
caving suit to drag behind me in a crawlway. The smooth thick
polyurethane sides and the angled shape pack allows the pack to
slide through a crawlway better than any pack I've used. And on
the other side of the sloppy crawlway, stream, or lake, the
contents are still dry. It cleans up easily, and dries quickly,
and so far has proven very tough. I've watched cavers at various
events tug and pull and yank in attempts to pull out the
adjustment holes and pull the seams apart. But no success, and
afterwards, the material doesn't even look stressed. Some people
have replaced the lower biners with small quick links, and put a
locking biner at the top. So now I'm a convert. Cavers are
particular about the design of their caving packs, as they are
their lighting systems, and we each tend to end up with a
favorite design and system after a few years' caving. No doubt
the SWAYGO design will suit some people's caving styles, body
shapes, and types of caving better than others. But it is
definitely a design worth looking at and trying out."
Walt English, Little Rock, AR -- "I
recently got to give my new PUSH Pack a try on a recent trip to
a VERY wet cave not far from here. It performed flawlessly
and didn’t leak a bit - it actually floats quite well. It was
money well spent."
Brent and Nancy Aulenbach, Lilburn, GA
-- "I took the pack on two horizontal survey trips into
Alabama/Georgia Cave, Alabama/Georgia and three horizontal
survey trips into Frick's Cave, Georgia. All of these trips had
quite a bit of crawling including belly crawls in water where I
drug the pack or laid on the pack to keep my chest and belly out
of the water. I also took the pack on a wet vertical trip to
Rawhide Horror Hole, Tennessee and did the first few drops. This
cave had lots of water on this day and we were crawling in quite
a bit of current, totally submerging the pack for extended
periods of time. These trips gave the pack a good workout. First
glance, the pack didn't appear very roomy, but I was able to get
all my survey gear in it fine including the survey tape along
with a one liter round Nalgene bottle. On the vertical trip I
had no problem fitting in my vertical gear. The pack is
definitely larger than it looks. The pack was streamlined and I
drug it real easy through the belly crawls. Dragging the pack
attached to one's foot also worked real well as the pack is
designed to easily put the straps around one's foot and take out
the slack so the straps didn't get hung up. I gave the pack a
good water test in Rawhide Horror Hole where it was submerged
for long periods of time. I often laid on the pack to keep my
belly from getting wet and muddy through belly crawls. Because I
did a lot of switching from walking to crawling, instead of
using the pack as a backpack, I often slung the straps over my
shoulder when walking and used the nice big handle to drag the
pack through the crawls. This was a fast and easy transition
preventing me from having to slow down to adjust my pack. The
pack was comfortable with its "upside-down" design. Overall, I
thought it was a great pack for doing the type of caving I often
do - low, wet crawls and vertical. As advertised it is a great
pack for pushing caves. I am enjoying it (the SWAYGO PUSH
Pack)!"
Jack Thomison, Knoxville, TN -- "I
purposely tried to abuse it (SWAYGO PUSH Pack) to see how it would hold up.
I have drug it through miles of crawl, tethered it down many multi-drops and
have not seen it fail or even show appreciable wear. I stuff all my gear
into the SWAYGO Pack and essentially wear it all day. I read instruments
(while surveying) and even though I had to contort myself to get readings, the
pack did not get in my way at all. It keeps my gear inside clean and dry even
when wallowing through muddy passages or floating through stream passages.
Everyone I cave with has noticed and asked about the pack and its innovative and
low profile design."
Rick Myers, Peyton, CO -- "I received the
pack a few days ago and have tried it out already - it works great! I went on a
dig in a limestone cave with a 75' entrance crawl, then up a fairly tight
chimney before it opens up into standing room. I dragged the pack through the
crawl, then rapidly converted it to wear on my back through the chimney climb -
it worked great in the climb! I used to have to carry my pack in the climb which
was a pain, the low profile of the pack enabled me to wear it through the
chimney."
Jimmie Deaton, Asheville, NC -- "I have carried many
different styles and sizes of packs over the years, but the low
profile push pack stays on my back more than any other pack."
Michael Dale, Asheville, NC -- "I love my Push Pack! It has plenty of
room for gear and can stand up to a long hard day's caving.
Going underground is a true test of gear quality and SWAYGO's
Push Pack offers it all...durability, roomy, waterproof, and
most of all, sleek and simple in design."
Jonathan Mays, Waynesville, NC -- "I've been using your
SWAYGO Push Pack for over a year now and have found it to be one
of the best pieces of cave gear I own. The sleek design
enables me to push tight passages without taking the pack off,
yet when I have pulled it behind me I've experienced a
resistance free drag. The waterproof material and strong
craftsmanship have kept everything from survey gear to camera
equipment dry in many water-filled treks and crawls. I even use
my Push Pack as a dry bag on canoe trips. Thanks for a
well designed and much needed product."
